The Role
This position will focus on assembling, installing, and maintaining the electrical wiring and electronic components that run our systems. Responsibilities to include:
Following electrical diagrams and layout plans to route wires, connect terminals, and ensure proper insulation and grounding
Assembling electrical components onto panels, enclosures, or designated structures according to provided guidelines
Ensuring all components are securely mounted and aligned for optimal functionality and ease of access during maintenance
Testing and inspecting to verify the functionality and integrity of wiring and components
In case of wiring or connection issues, troubleshooting and repairing the root causes of problems
Maintaining accurate records of the wiring process, including wiring diagrams, test results, and any modifications made during assembly
Helping prototype & test puzzles, props, and interactions
Helping organize and maintain a workshop and studio space
Qualifications
Must Haves
Ability to commute to Needham, Massachusetts
2-3 years of electromechanical assembly
Basic experience with electronics, wiring, circuit boards, soldering, etc.
Willingness to do occasional travel for off-site testing, research, and more
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; we are unable to sponsor applicants for work visas at this time
Enthusiasm for immersive / location-based entertainment :)
Nice to Haves
Familiarity with at least some of the following: Arduino, PLCs, DIN Rail, electrical enclosures, multi-channel audio output, speakers and amplifiers, commercial projectors, Raspberry Pis, linear actuators, rotary encoders, individually addressable LED strips, DMX, theatre lighting, and fog machines
Familiarity with standard workshop tools (power drills, saws, hand tools, etc.)
Experience with rapid prototyping, and working with materials such as foam, cardboard, etc., and tools such as hot glue guns, etc.
Compensation & Benefits
$45,000 - $55,000 a year commensurate with experience
