The Venue
Edge of Elsewhere is an upcoming interactive art and entertainment concept currently under development in Somerville, Massachusetts. The 12,000 square foot venue is slated to open by Fall of 2026 and will feature a growing collaboration of more than 50 local artists, designers, fabricators, programmers, musicians, and storytellers. Designed and built by Midnight Mansion, Edge of Elsewhere aims to be an in-person choose-your-own-adventure blending immersive environments, puzzles, and technology-driven storytelling.
Edge of Elsewhere is built to be a first-of-its-kind experience, combining immersive environments, puzzle-driven exploration, interactive technology, and video game-inspired progression into something that does not fit neatly into any existing category. Rather than guiding guests through a single fixed story, the venue will host multiple themed worlds for guests to investigate, revisit, and slowly understand through curiosity, experimentation, and play.

Part immersive world, part interactive playground, and part evolving mystery, Edge of Elsewhere is designed as a place to explore at your own pace. Guests enter the venue with a personalized passcard that acts as both their timed ticket and their connection to the experience. Throughout the space, visitors can use their passcards to activate installations, unlock content, and solve mysteries and puzzles.
One world guests may encounter in the Somerville location is Retropolis, a neon-soaked, cyberpunk-inspired district built from forgotten technology and discarded digital memories. Inside, players might rehome virtual pets at a digital adoption agency, work as retrofuturistic phone booth technicians, or step into a giant Etch A Sketch-style game.
Hidden interactions, layered details, and branching content are designed to reward curiosity and experimentation. Guests who return may discover entirely new moments, interactions, and areas that were previously inaccessible to them.

Values
At Edge of Elsewhere, we invite folks to explore new worlds and ask “what if?” We hope we've built an experience that rewards curiosity, observation, and a willingness to poke around somewhere strange and a little unexpected. We hope you'll experience moments of delight.
We care about warmth, playfulness, mystery, and experiences that feel personal. We especially love layered details - things that might look one way on the surface, but have something deeper hidden for the folks who are curious and persistent enough to find it.
Consistent with our design principles, our worlds can be whimsical and wacky, but everything we put forward should still be welcoming and accessible. Whether you’re here to solve things, wander aimlessly, laugh with friends, or just soak in the atmosphere, we want the experience to feel inviting, memorable, and like somewhere you'd want to return.
